The Full Circle Art Collective launched the first exhibition of the “In Wait” project at the Maple Ridge Art Gallery this past February 2014. This extraordinary project based on the story of Penelope in Homer’s Odyessy, is a contemplative response to the ubiquitous act of waiting. After three years of collaboration we created over 200 mixed media pieces weaving together our personal “In Wait” stories.

January 2011-2014 - “In Wait”

“In Wait” is inspired by the story of Penelope in Homer’s Odyssey. Seven of our members have been working on a collaborative of approximately 200 pieces.

The story
In Homer’s Odyssey, Penelope, wife of Odysseus, finds herself besieged by suitors during her husband’s long absence. In order to avoid making a decision regarding matrimony, she announces she must weave a shroud before she can wed again. Penelope weaves during the day and unravels her work during the night, thus never completing the shroud and allowing her to find a resolution in waiting.

The project is a contemplative response to our personal experiences and the shared communal psyche as we have examined an ordinary part of life: the ubiquitous act of waiting. The artists have worked on these images individually and collaboratively as the majority of these works have been passed on to others to complete. During the 18 months that we have been working on this project we have created almost 200 images!

The works are 12” x 12” multi media pieces on Arches Cover (Natural White) and mounted on cradle boxes. All materials are archival and works are varnished for protection and meet museum quality standards.

These works will be exhibited in a travelling exhibit throughout British Columbia in 2013/2014. Check back for dates and gallery locations. Prices range from $300-$350 each.

Despite the diversity of imagery, subject matter, methodology and technique used by the artists of the Full Circle Art Collective, a remarkable cross-over of shared themes and iconographies is made visible in the wide visual spectrum of this exhibition.

In addition, accompanying written clues suggest conceptual associations that may evoke and inspire a deciphering of meanings, enticing the viewers to engage in a creative dialogue with each of the works.

Passage of Time Portfolio
Price: $1850 (includes portfolio folder)

Time - the temporal dimension that embraces both a moment and an eternity. It allows events to unfold, sequencing them and measuring changes that eventually give meaning to the experience. In order to reflect on the passage of time, the artists have chosen a vision that despite its pictorial stillness offers space for the intimate sensing of the infinite tense.

The exhibition “Passage of Time” was held in April 2011 at the The University Women’s Club at Hycroft in Vancouver, BC. Inspired by the theme of “Passage of Time”, eleven artists created each an edition of 6 prints through various printmaking techniques. Coinciding with the exhibition two complete sets of the eleven original prints - one from each artist - has been made available at collector’s price. To learn more and to view the suite, please email

Prints can also be purchased individually (see below). Prices range from $125-$250 unframed.
